UiT The Arctic University of Norway is seeking a PhD Fellow for a three-year position at the Department of Electrical Engineering in Narvik. The research focuses on developing AI-automated voltage control strategies for future distribution networks to manage increasing variability from distributed energy resources and electric vehicles.
Research Focus
The project aims to address the limitations of traditional voltage regulation by creating intelligent, fast-control strategies. Key areas of development include:
- Advanced machine learning, reinforcement learning, and agent-based optimization.
- Hierarchical control designs combining local decision-making with system-wide coordination.
- Validation through offline simulations, real-time digital simulators, and cyber-physical co-simulation environments.
