PhD Candidate in Multi-scale, -physics, -fidelity wind modelling for wind farms
This PhD project is connected to FME NorthWind, a Norwegian national research centre led by SINTEF Energy Research. The position is linked to Work Package 4: Digital twin asset management, focusing on multiscale wind simulation to improve accuracy in wind energy production.
The successful applicant will work at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, NTNU, in Trondheim. The topic of the PhD fellowship is at the interface of numerical mathematics, generative AI models, and computer science.
Duties of the position
- Complete the doctoral education until obtaining a doctorate.
- Conduct high-quality research within the scope of the project.
- Contribute to research publications in leading international journals and conferences.
- Participate in international activities such as conferences, workshops, and possible research stays abroad.
- Implement and test algorithms in high-performing open-source scientific software.
Krav
- You must have a professionally relevant background in Applied/Numerical Mathematics, Physics, or Fluid Mechanics with a solid education in numerical methods for solving partial differential equations.
- You must have a strong academic background with an average grade from your Master's degree study equal to B or better.
- You must meet the requirements for admission to the faculty's Doctoral Programme.
- Applicants must have significant programming experience ideally in C, C++, R, and/or Python.
- You must have good written and oral communication skills in English.
