Senior Purchase Specialist is responsible for strategically sourcing technical components and systems, managing assigned supplier categories, and building strong supplier partnerships. The role supports engineering and projects by driving commercially and technically optimal procurement decisions, while improving supplier performance, standardization, and total cost of ownership throughout the product lifecycle.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Strategic procurement of technical components and systems, with ownership of assigned categories.
  • Support product development and project execution through both strategic and hands-on procurement activities, including sourcing, purchasing, and delivery follow-up.
  • With a strong technical understanding, act as a key partner to Engineering by challenging specifications and influencing design and product changes to ensure cost-efficient, robust, and scalable solutions.
  • Drive standardization of components and supplier base to reduce complexity, risk, and total cost of ownership (TCO/LCC), including impact on maintenance, spare parts, and lifecycle performance.
  • Build and manage supplier relationships, including negotiation of contracts, pricing, and framework agreements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement through KPIs and structured follow-up.

Requirements

  • Higher education in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience in technical procurement within a project-based environment.
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding, with the ability to assess the impact of technical and commercial decisions.
  • Proven experience with contract negotiations and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in cost and value analysis.
