About the job
This graduate program is your gateway to redefining a major industrial company. You will collaborate across disciplines, interpreting seismic and geological data, analyzing well logs, supporting reservoir modeling and work alongside data scientists to develop smart, data-driven subsurface solutions. Successful candidates will specialize in biostratigraphy, eventually joining Aker BP’s Geology and Geophysics Excellence team (G&G). Before that, you'll rotate through the full subsurface value chain, broadening your technical skills and understanding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Holistic subsurface understanding: Gain a holistic understanding of the Geology and Geophysics value chain through diverse subsurface rotations.
- Biostratigraphic frameworks: Apply biostratigraphic methods to establish and refine stratigraphic frameworks and palaeodepositional models.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration: Integrate biostratigraphic data into subsurface models, well planning, and exploration with Geology and Geophysics teams.
- Digital & AI workflows: Develop and apply digital biostratigraphy workflows, including AI/ML data capture and database management.
- Productivity & Innovation: Identify and implement improvement opportunities to achieve our 3x productivity ambition.

Requirements
- Final year student or recent graduate with an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biostratigraphy and/or Micropaleontology.
- Strong fundamental geological understanding.
- Specialization in Palynology, Micropaleontology, or Nannofossil with significant microscope/analytical experience.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to connect data to geological interpretations and decisions.
- Fluent in English for professional communication.
- Legal eligibility to work in Norway for the full duration of the program.
