As a Technical Safety Engineer in our 2027 Graduate Program, you will be at the forefront of Aker BP's ambition to become the world's first AI-native E&P company. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our assets by applying advanced analytical skills and collaborating across disciplines to prevent major accident hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational & Project support: Support technical safety in projects and in operation and production of assets/platforms.
- Risk assessment & Safety systems: Engage in risk assessments and manage safety systems like firewater/sprinkler, F&G detection, and lifeboats.
- Data analysis & AI tools: Apply data analysis and AI tools to interpret operational data for enhanced technical safety and digitalization initiatives.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration: Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across engineering and production to define and implement safety barriers.
- Hazard prevention & Improvement: Actively contribute to major accident hazard prevention and improve procedures by challenging existing solutions.
Your journey in Technical Safety
You'll gain a holistic view by rotating through core aspects of Technical Safety, focusing on risk management, safety systems, and operational support within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Risk assessments: Perform risk assessment in operation, and support/perform studies like quantitative risk analysis (QRA), HAZOP, gas dispersion analysis, fire integrity, and time-to-escape studies.
- Safety systems: Learn about and manage critical safety systems like firewater/sprinkler, fire & gas detection, and lifeboats.
- Operational support: Provide technical safety guidance to platform operations and to projects, ensuring compliance with standards (e.g., NORSOK S-001, ISO 13702).
- Barrier management: Follow up on the functionality, integrity, and performance of barriers to control major accident risks on our installations.
- Data-driven safety: Structure and analyze operational data to identify improvements and apply AI/digitalization for enhanced safety insights.
Requirements
- M.Sc. degree in Petroleum, Risk Management, Risk Analysis, Technical / Social Safety, or a similar relevant engineering field.
- Strong fundamental engineering understanding with curiosity for complex, real-world operational challenges.
- Strong analytical skills, capable of connecting technical calculations and data to practical decisions.
- Fluency in English for professional communication.
- Valid EEA work permit and eligibility to work in Norway for the full duration of the program.
- Eagerness to spend time offshore, gaining hands-on experience in operational safety.
