Policy and Advocacy Senior Adviser

Are you passionate about shaping humanitarian policy and influencing decision-makers at the highest levels? NRC is seeking an experienced Policy and Advocacy Senior Adviser to lead our policy engagement and advocacy efforts in Norway.

What you will do:

  • Develop and implement NRC’s advocacy strategy towards Norwegian and Swedish targets.
  • Lead strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of private and public advocacy initiatives.
  • Draft and disseminate high-quality advocacy products including briefings, talking points, speeches, and position papers.
  • Monitor and analyse Norwegian humanitarian and development policy, and advise NRC on relevant developments.
  • Act as a media spokesperson and represent NRC in relevant policy and advocacy fora.
  • Develop and nurture strong contacts and networks in Norway and Sweden.
  • Provide surge capacity and remote support for country offices on advocacy and policy matters.
  • Lead NRC’s advocacy and engagement in relation to the Norwegian aid reform process.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in law, human rights, political science, or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five years of documented relevant experience within the humanitarian sector, including field experience.
  • Proven ability to lead high-level advocacy processes and influence policy and funding decisions.
  • Strong understanding of and network within the Norwegian foreign aid and policy community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Norwegian.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting professional advocacy materials such as speeches and position papers.
