Job Description
Head of Risk & Compliance AK Jensen Norway
AKJ has established a long track record of success in the asset management and fintech space, with clients in 35 countries, $2B in ecosystem assets, and five regulatory jurisdictions. We are now at a pivotal moment as we build the foundation for the next era of asset management.
AKJ is redefining how asset management work gets done. We are developing the AKJ Intelligence Stack: the first AI-native, integrated platform combining regulated infrastructure, agentic orchestration, and embedded execution within one architecture.
The role:
AK Jensen Norway AS is an investment firm authorised by Finanstilsynet under MiFID II and among the first firms in Norway authorised as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) under MiCA. We are searching for a new Head of Risk & Compliance.
Reporting to the Board with day-to-day partnership with the CEO, you will be AKJNO's senior second-line authority, combining the roles of etterlevelsesansvarlig and risikostyringsansvarlig in a single function.
You will:
- Lead the combined compliance and risk management function as an independent second line, advising the Board, the CEO and the business on regulatory obligations, conduct and risk exposure.
- Own the compliance monitoring programme, regulatory reporting and the compliance risk assessment, and keep the framework current as the firm scales.
- Own the firm's risk management framework: the risk register, risk appetite and limits, periodic risk assessments and risk reporting to the Board and senior management.
- Oversee ICT and operational risk, including the firm's DORA framework.
- Be the primary point of contact with Finanstilsynet and manage supervisory dialogue and notifications.
- Advise on MiFID II and MiCA obligations across portfolio management, RTO and digital-asset services.
- Partner with Legal and the business on new products, delegation and outsourcing arrangements, and market-conduct matters.
- Build out policies, procedures and controls pragmatically, turning a fast-moving, entrepreneurial business into a well-controlled one.
Requirements
- You must have a strong grounding in the Norwegian regulatory framework (verdipapirhandelloven, Finanstilsynet expectations, hvitvaskingsloven) and MiFID II.
- You must possess full professional proficiency in both Norwegian and English.
- You should have a practical understanding of risk management in a regulated firm or the aptitude to build that muscle quickly.
- You need a builder's mindset with a pragmatic, hands-on approach to shaping a function.
- You must be comfortable operating with pace and ambiguity in a fast-growing regulated business.
