The role:

The Procurement Engineer at METTLER TOLEDO Cargoscan AS is a key driver in the acquisition of cutting-edge technical components, parts, and services that uphold our renowned standards of quality and innovation. This dynamic role demands close collaboration with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to secure materials and solutions essential for pioneering precision instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and understand complex technical specifications and drawings related to precision instruments and associated components.
  • Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers capable of delivering high-quality technical components and services aligned with METTLER TOLEDO’s quality and compliance standards.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, delivery terms, and purchase agreements to optimize cost, quality, and supply continuity.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to ensure purchased materials meet technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance metrics, conduct audits when necessary, and implement corrective actions to maintain supplier excellence.
  • Manage procurement lifecycle including purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and resolving any supply chain disruptions.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory compliance, and sustainability initiatives within the supply chain.
  • Effectively utilize ERP systems (SAP) to streamline and manage all procurement activities with accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, procurement, or related fields (relevant experience can compensate for education).
  • Proven experience from a production environment with a solid understanding of purchasing processes.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in sourcing suppliers, negotiating pricing, and managing supply chain issues.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP ECC is an advantage) and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent English written and spoken, with strong cross-functional communication and analytical skills.
