Independent Veterinarian
We are looking for a veterinarian to work in a mixed veterinary practice on Dønna in Nordland. The practice covers both companion animals and farm animals. The position is intended for a veterinarian interested in a long-term collaboration and independent work within a small, well-functioning team.
Scope of work
- The practice has a mixed profile: about 50% small animals (mainly dogs and cats) and about 50% farm animals (mainly cattle, occasionally horses and sheep).
- Work takes place both at the clinic and out in the field.
- Work with cattle includes insemination, treatment, preventive care, assistance with calving, and basic diagnostics.
On-call duty
Night and weekend on-call duty is organized as a stand-by system. Once a second veterinarian is hired, on-call duty will be shared. For each full week of on-call duty, 2.5 additional days off are granted.
Clinic equipment
The clinic is equipped with a laboratory, hematology/biochemistry analyzers, microscope, ultrasound (USG), digital X-ray (DDR), dental X-ray, dental equipment, inhalation anesthesia machine, electrocautery, and endoscope/bronchoscope.
Requirements
- Authorization to practice as a veterinarian in Norway.
- Experience working with small animals.
- Basic surgical skills.
- Ability to independently perform a caesarean section on a cow, dog, or sheep.
- Ability to perform cattle insemination.
- Independence and a sense of responsibility.
