Secretary General position at NAMMCO
NAMMCO (North Atlantic Marine Mammal Commission) is an intergovernmental organisation providing its member parties (Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, and Norway) with management advice on the sustainable and responsible use of marine mammals. We contribute to a sustainable North, fulfill UN SDGs, and reconcile hunting and use while conserving biodiversity and livelihoods.
The Role
The Secretary General will support the Commission in developing and implementing its objectives and priorities. You will lead a small, international, and engaged Secretariat where teamwork is key. The role involves a variety of tasks and challenges in a demanding, sometimes hectic, but rewarding environment with a large multi-cultural network.
Location and Environment
The position is based in Tromsø, Norway, an area known for its beautiful outdoors and Arctic environment.

Requirements
- You must hold a higher university degree or possess proven relevant qualifications and experience.
- You should demonstrate strong diplomatic, representational, cross-cultural communication, and managerial skills.
- You must have experience in strategic planning and financial administration.
- You must possess an excellent level of spoken and written English.
- You should have an understanding of the challenges impacting the Arctic and wildlife management.
- You must be a motivated team player.
